IWSG:Sickness Sucks

Because Wednesdays are my busiest day and because I'm lazy, I probably won't get around to visiting a lot of other blogs until tomorrow.

I've learned something in the last couple of months. Being sick is really bad for my writing projects. Not too long ago, I had a cold. Then more recently, there were a few headache days. And let's not forget the misery of cramps. And all of it screws stuff up. It's hard to write down good dialogue when it hurts too much to do anything.

On a more general note, I've been dealing with some burnout lately. Maybe I'm just tired. Maybe my brain's going on strike. And with Christmas coming, well, things are going to get interesting. I'll probably take a couple weeks off, though. And why is it all these IWSG posts of mine end up rambling and unfocused? What's going on with my head?

So how's your December going so far?

It is hard to keep writing if you're not feeling well. Perhaps a break is just what you need? I think time off can, in the long run, be more productive than to force yourself to keep going when you're just not up for it.

@ Patsy
I have been thinking I'll take a break over Christmas and come back the week after New Year's. Thanks for the visit.

Maybe a break is exactly what your brain needs. I have some pain filled days during the week and it does me no good to try and force myself to write. It just shows. Hope things look brighter soon.

Hope you are feeling better. It seems like the general announcements while visiting #IWSG that December is a tough month to accomplish writing. Good luck!

A break sometimes comes as a blessing. It would do you good to think on other things and get your mind on a different mood. Hopefully celebration mood. Then you'll come back refreshed and hopefully, with new ideas.

I never want to write when I'm sick. I want someone to take care of me. I've been thinking about taking a break around Christmas too. There's just so much going on and people are focusing on family, so I think it's a good time to take a blogging break. Then you can start refreshed with the new year.

I'm hoping so.

@ Patricia Lynne
It did seem like a good time.

Feeling bad is no fun. Hope you're better soon. Rest for a while. Give your mind and body a break. Hugs.

Sometimes taking a break can re-charge us mentally and physically. Feeling unwell can definitely suck our creativity. Hope you are feeling better soon.

This post speaks to me. After coming down with the flu (I now know the difference between a cold and the flu) then being slapped upside the head with a sinus infection, I agree, being sick is bad for writing projects (and pretty much everything else which is why I'm responding to an IWSG post two days late).

We all need to take a break on occasion, and it's especially nice to have some time during the holidays. Remember, being sick isn't a break, it's an interruption—not the same thing.

Feel better soon!

I'm feeling okay now, but with my track record for December, I shouldn't expect that to last. Thanks for the hugs.

@ Tammy Theriault
A little time off (and sleep) should help me out. Especially with everything I need or want to get down.

This is a good month to take a break. I'll be taking one soon.
