Annoying Things Bloggers Do

No one thing on this list guarantees I won't revisit a blog. But they do negatively impact my opinion of one.

  • Post one of those visitor trackers. Have you ever seen a gadget showing recent hits and their locations on a blog? Look, I know web companies and bloggers I visit already know my general location, but that doesn't mean I want it to be public knowledge.
  • Failure to update. I'm much less inclined to visit if I don't see anything for months.
  • Don't post a easy-to-navigate archive. I like to read what you've said before, so please let me do that without trouble.
  • Post pictures wider than the post or the sidebar. There is nothing visually appealing about an image sticking out on a post too small.
  • Send me to a page instead of the actual blog posts. Personally, I'm not a big fan of being directed to "welcome" pages.

Anything else?

hehehe.... I hope I haven't offended you with my blog!! You made me smile with this- and your blog taglines!

Haha! I had to go and double-check my pictures. I have seen that before. I don't know why people leave their pics huge like that. I'm like you with non-regular posts, however sometimes it does happen when life issues happen. If I know I'm not going to post for awhile, I try and let my friends have a heads up.
Having said all of that, I'm usually not a long-commenter!

I haven't seen any of these infractions, with the exception of "dead" blogs that go dormant for months, even years at a time.

There are however, a whole bunch of other things that bug me and keep me from returning. Number one is making it difficult to comment and number two is not having a "like" button.

Heh, actually didn't visit you until you stopped by. Glad I could make you smile.

@ Brenda
Yeah. I've found some blogs that haven't been updated in years.

@ corinajoyc
Making it hard to comment is especially annoying during blog hops when I'm expected to say something.

Glad to hear that.

My big annoyance if it's too hard to follow their blog, especially during a blog hop. I am not a big commenter but I do like to comeback and visit. :)

These are all good ones. I tend to look short posts that get to the point. Also like an uncluttered page. We all have our pet peeves, I suppose...it feels good to get it out!

Hey, this is Jeri from Storytelling Matters. Thanks for visiting me! I can't tell you how timely it was to read your 'kvetch' about blogs. I recently pored through one for a loooong time trying to find the POST. I don't think I ever did...or maybe I did. I just couldn't tell. I bet that would annoy you and just about anyone maybe... :)

Hmmm... Perhaps ones that play music when you start them. Or load videos. I don't particularly like having sound while I'm blog hopping.

Trackers don't bother me. If you don't post for 6 months or more, you are removed from my reading list.

You are so right!!

@ Melissa Ann
I tend to come back after I comment on a post, just to see what others have said.

@ seezooeyrun
And now is a good time to vent it.

@ worddancewoman
That would be pretty irritating.

@ Barbara In Caneyhead
Sounds like a good system.

@ Birgit
Good to know.

Hi...just found this and agree with some you mention. My main issues are where to find the comments, the home button, and sometimes even the post. Also, I try to let bloggers know if I have a problem, and hope others will do the same for me. Sometime it's not obvious at all. Thanks for letting me rant!
