Celebrate The Small Things:June Has Arrived

First, I managed to get a higher quality version of the icon.

Last week, we found a chihuahua we suspect was abandoned, since  we haven't seen any sign that there's someone looking for him (no lost posters or notices, and none of the neighbors down the street recognized him).

We've started calling him Rocket (and considering how fast he moves when he sees someone he likes come nearby, it suits him). And so far, he has adapted to his new home rather well.

The biggest thing we have left to do is get him and Poochie to play nice.

Well, that's it for me. Hope you get a good weekend.

I'm sure Rocket is glad to have found a nice home. As to playing nice, hope it comes without too much trouble!

What a sweetheart! Though, getting two dogs to play nice can be a challenge (good luck!) Our little guys still have trouble and they've known each other their entire lives..

I'm so happy you were able to save Rocket. He deserves a good home!

I"m sure the little dog is very happy in his new home! We have a rescue dog, too. He's the best. Have a great weekend.

Let's hope so.

So far, there has been some growling and snapping (no injuries though).

@ Jolie du Pre
He does.

He does seem to be liking it here. You have a good weekend too.

I'm a dog lover, and these two are adorable. My parents had chihauhas (sorry about the spelling). We live on a farm and go for bigger dogs--our favorite is the Akita-Chow mix. Have a great weekend.

Thanks. You too.

Awww...that's so nice of you to take in an abandoned dog!!! I hope Poochie chills out and has fun with a new buddy. Have a good weekend!

Interestingly, we expected Poochie to be snippy with the newcomer, but the opposite has been happening. And you have a good weekend too. said...

Rocket — cute name. He looks like he could move pretty quickly. I hope he and Poochie get reconciled to each other soon.

That IS a great graphic of the hop banner! Rocket's such a great name and he's such a cutie. I'm sure he'll settle in and become buddies with Poochie soon. Have a great weekend! :)

He can move fast when he wants to.

I love the name Rocket. What a cutie. I know we've only recently 'met', but you've been so consistent with leaving me positive and encouraging comments on my blog even when I'm falling behind with 'life'. There is an Encouraging Thunder Award waiting for you on my blog. You don't even need to do anything for it, but accept. Hugs. Eva

My family had a chihuahua when I was a kid. I can't remember that dog's name now. Anyway, I remember one year she had a litter of pups. We were so excited to see them. Naturally we had to pick them up. We were very tender with the tiny puppies. Some time after we left, the mama attacked her own nearly killing all of them. I was so heart sick that she did this. I think it was Daddy that said by us picking them up that it removed her scent from her babies and she didn't know them. Mommy nursed those pups for days until all, but one was well again. The one that didn't make it died within the first 24-hours. I remember how sad that made me, too. Oh well...this is suppose to be a happy post with rescuing an abandoned animal. I never understood how anyone can just do that and be okay with it. That's just so not right. People need to practice responsibility at every level in their lives. It's a good thing there are those such as yourself who are moved to care for these creatures. Thanks for visiting on Friday. I'm a bit slow, but I made over. I hope you have a funtastic week ahead and if you wanna do a little boogieing this morning then come dance with me at Monday Mewzik & Mewzings!

Aww, what cute dogs. I hope they learn to tolerate each other. We started letting a stray cat into our home and when our inside kitty sees him, she hisses. Then she starts coughing and hacking until she nearly vomits. I guess that means she doesn't like him. Thankfully, he just sits still and does nothing because he outweighs her by over ten pounds.

I was a little slow this week too. Thanks for stopping by.

@ Tamara Narayan
Poochie has mostly ignored Rocket after she realized he was there. It was kind of funny.

Sorry this comment is so late! Ugh... anyways... I hope the pooches start to feel the love for one another soon. Give it a little time and let them know you are boss and expect them to love each other :) This is how I handle my children when they fight LOL
